Don’t like the taste of tea? Neither did I! Well, I’m here to tell you that it definitely gets better. I used to dread making tea only for it to taste like straight hot water with 1/1000 of tea flavor, I just couldn’t get into it. Funny enough I was at work one day and a customer mentioned how she had been drinking this certain tea for years and just could not imagine life without it. I was thinking to myself “Either this lady really likes this tea or shes playing with me.” well, she explained a little more in detail about how it helps her sleep and gets her up in the morning feeling refreshed. As a person who has trouble sleeping, and waking up. I decided to try it, this time, the right way.
That day after work I bought a kettle, read the instructions on the tea packet, set up my mug, and waited for the kettle to whistle. After letting the tea steep for the appropriate amount of time, I pulled the bag out and tried some. I was way too surprised by how decent it tasted, not great, but definitely not as bad as I had remembered. About half an hour passed by and I felt myself getting sleepy, at 10:30! That, to me, was ridiculous and I couldn’t for the life of me think of a reason why I was so tired. Finally, it hit me….the tea! I was not going to pass up the opportunity to get some good sleep, I un-made my bed, laid down, and closed my eyes.
I woke up the next morning a little confused as to why there wasn’t much light coming into my room. It was 6:30 am and I was up, again I thought of the tea and if it really was what made the impact on my sleep. Either way, I don’t like to question a good thing too much and I have continued drinking tea every night about an hour before bed. Whether the tea works or not it somewhat trains your body into the routine that an hour after you drink the tea you will get sleepy, sort of a psychological effect.
The tea that I have been drinking is called “Tension Tamer” by celestial seasonings and it has so far been my favorite. Let me know what you think about tea and if you start, let me know which one you’re starting on, it doesn’t hurt to try.
